I became a coach because of the support I never had.
When I first stepped into leadership, I wanted real guidance and couldn't find it. I learned mostly by watching leaders do it the wrong way. When I asked why a change was happening, the answer was usually the next fire to put out.
I've spent more than 15 years in Alberta financial services and insurance, starting as a broker and growing into senior leadership. Along the way I took high-turnover teams and rebuilt them into steady, process-driven teams with a culture people wanted to stay for. Sometimes that meant refining the system. Most of all, it meant helping people understand why their work mattered.
Before any of that, I managed my own career as a touring musician. It taught me that you build the thing yourself, and that nothing changes until someone changes it.
Give people something to believe in, tell them the truth, and connect today's work to where you're going.
